Terms of Service
Version 1.0 · Effective November 4, 2026
These Terms are an agreement between you and Christian Almanza, the developer of Twolight, or any company he forms to run it ("we", "us"), about your use of the Twolight app ("Twolight"). By creating an account or using Twolight, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Twolight.
Please read Section 13. It requires most disputes to be resolved by individual arbitration and waives class actions and jury trials.
1. Who can use Twolight
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You may use Twolight only with another adult who has chosen to connect with you.
2. What Twolight is, and what it is not
Twolight is a tool for sharing schedules, chores, date plans and short messages between two people. It is not:
- Counseling or therapy. Nothing in Twolight is medical, psychological, relationship or legal advice. Features such as the talk light, gestures and reflections are communication aids only.
- An emergency or safety service. Do not rely on Twolight to ask for help in an emergency, to report danger, or to check on anyone's safety. If you or someone else is in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number. In the United States you can reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
- Guaranteed to deliver. Notifications, reminders, talk lights and messages can be delayed or not arrive, because of your device, its settings, your network or the services Twolight depends on. Do not use Twolight for anything where a missed or late message could cause harm or loss. When your partner is likely asleep, free or home is estimated from the hours you enter, and the estimate can be wrong.
- A location or monitoring tool. Twolight is not designed to track, locate or monitor another person. "Heading home" sends a status you choose to send, never your location.
3. Your relationship is your own
Twolight helps two people communicate. It does not control, and is not responsible for, how either person feels, behaves or responds, or for the outcome of any relationship, conversation, plan, chore or date. Decisions you make, including where you go and who you meet, are yours.
4. How you may not use Twolight
You agree not to use Twolight to:
- harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk, coerce, control or abuse anyone;
- monitor, track or pressure a partner, or connect to someone's account without their genuine, ongoing consent;
- impersonate anyone or connect with someone under false pretenses;
- send unlawful, sexually exploitative, hateful or violent content;
- involve anyone under 18;
- break the law, or reverse-engineer, disrupt, overload or misuse Twolight.
If someone uses Twolight against you, unpair immediately in Settings and contact support@twolightapp.com. We may suspend or end any account we reasonably believe breaks this Section.
5. Pairing and what your partner can see
When you pair with someone, they can see the information Twolight shares between partners, including schedules, chores, date plans, gestures, talk lights and any reflection you choose to share. You are responsible for what you share and with whom. Either person can unpair at any time; unpairing stops future sharing but cannot take back what the other person has already seen.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of what you write and add ("your content"). You give us a limited license to store, process and display your content only to run Twolight for you and the person you pair with. Your content is stored on your device and in your own iCloud account through Apple; we do not have access to it. You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to share it. We do not review content in advance and are not responsible for content created by users.
We don't read, monitor or review anything you write or add in Twolight, including your journal, and we have no way to. Twolight isn't monitored, and it isn't an emergency, crisis, counseling or medical service. If you or someone else is in danger, contact local emergency services (911 in the US).
7. Location, calendar and reminders
Some optional features use your device's location, calendar or notifications, only with your permission. Locations and places come from third-party services such as Apple Maps and may be wrong, out of date or closed. Check details yourself before you go. You are responsible for your own safety and choices when visiting any place Twolight suggests.
8. Subscriptions
Some features require a paid subscription ("Twolight Plus"). Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through your Apple ID. They renew automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in your Apple ID settings. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. We may change prices or features with notice as required by law and Apple's rules.
9. Changes and ending your use
We may change, suspend or stop any part of Twolight at any time. We may update these Terms; if a change is material we will tell you in the app and ask you to accept the new version before you keep using Twolight. You may stop using Twolight and delete your data at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms. Sections 2, 3, 6 and 10 to 15 survive.
10. Disclaimers
TWOLIGHT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT TWOLIGHT WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, ACCURATE OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY MESSAGE, REMINDER OR NOTIFICATION WILL BE DELIVERED.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, GOODWILL OR EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, OR FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE CONDUCT OF ANY USER OR THIRD PARTY, ANY RELATIONSHIP OUTCOME, OR ANY MISSED OR DELAYED COMMUNICATION, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO TWOLIGHT IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND US $100. Some places do not allow these limits, so some may not apply to you.
12. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify us, and our owners, employees and agents, against any claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use or misuse of Twolight, your breach of these Terms, or your conduct toward any other person.
13. Disputes: informal resolution, arbitration and class-action waiver
- Talk to us first. Before filing any claim, you agree to email support@twolightapp.com with a description of the issue and try to resolve it informally for 60 days. We agree to do the same.
- Arbitration. Any dispute that is not resolved will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, instead of in court. Hearings will be held by video unless you ask for one in person, in which case it will be held in the county where you live. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this Section. If 25 or more similar claims are brought by the same or coordinated lawyers, they will be handled in batches of up to 25, with the rest paused until each batch is decided.
- Exceptions. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either of us may seek an injunction in court to stop misuse of intellectual property.
- No class actions or jury trials. Claims may be brought only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, consolidated or representative action. You and we each waive the right to a jury trial.
- Time limit. Any claim must be brought within one year after it arose, or it is permanently barred.
- Opting out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing support@twolightapp.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, with your name and a clear statement that you opt out.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the Federal Arbitration Act applies. For anything not subject to arbitration or small claims, you agree to the courts located in El Paso County, Texas. Nothing in these Terms takes away any consumer protection that the law where you live gives you and that cannot be waived by agreement.
15. Apple
These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Twolight or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If Twolight fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price, if any; to the extent allowed by law Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to Twolight, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection or intellectual property claims; we are responsible for those as described in these Terms. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
16. General
If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them in a merger, sale or reorganization, including to a company we form to run Twolight. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Twolight.
